Week 1, 8/28/24, Crochet
Beginner: Basic Crochet stitches: Slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet – Single Crochet Purse

Beginner Tools & Materials Needed: 1 skein Medium weight/worsted weight yarn, size G, H,  or I crochet hook, or as called for on yarn package, & 1” button.

Advanced: Simple Crochet Dishcloth or Washcloth

Advanced Tools & Materials Needed:
Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook or size you prefer for the yarn you’re using
1 skein Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn

Week 2, 9/4/24, Crochet
Beginner: More Basic Crochet stitches: half double, double & triple crochet - Multi-Stitch Scarf, Crochet pattern reading, Adding a new yarn.

Beginner Tools & Materials Needed: 2 skeins Medium weight/worsted weight yarn, size G, H,  or I crochet hook, or as called for on yarn package.

Advanced: Create ribbing with crochet

Week 3, 9/11/24:  Crochet

Everyone: Basic Granny Square & top of Granny Square Crocheted Bucket Hat

Tools & Materials Needed: Medium weight cotton yarn in 3 colors
COLOR A:  2 skeins (approx. 115 g)
COLOR B:  1 skein (approx. 12 g)

Everyone: Continue Granny Square Bucket Hat

 

Week 5, 9/25/24: Crochet
Everyone: Adding a wire to stiffen the brim of a crocheted hat.

Tools & Materials Needed: Millinery wire, wide packing tape or other tape, same crochet hook and yarn used for Granny Square Bucket Hat.

Week 6, 10/2/24, Crochet

Everyone: Crochet coil basket

Tools & Materials Needed:

#4 weight yarn – Lion Brand 24/7 suggested, or equivalent (slightly thinner than normal medium weight yarn, but still #4). NOTE: Use a color other than white so it will be a contrast to the piping.

Week 7, 10/9/24,  Basic Hand Sewing Skills: running stitch, back stitch, gathering, drawstrings.

Sew a drawstring bag by hand that can also be used as a lining

Tools & Materials Needed: 1 yd. of Woven fabric, hand sewing needle & thread, large safety pin, cord for drawstring

 

Week 8, 10/16/24,  Cord Project #483, Needle Lace/Needle Tatting

Advanced Tools & Materials: Medium weight cotton yarn, size 8 or 9 needles

 

Week 10, 10/29/24, Knitting
Beginner: Purl stitch, Pattern Sampler Scarf
Beginner Tools & Materials: Size 8, 9 or 10 knitting needles, 2 skeins worsted weight yarn
Advanced: Simple Garter Stitch Slippers
Advanced tools & materials: medium/worsted weight yarn, 3 size 6 knitting needles, size G crochet hook

 

Week 11, 11/6/24, Knitting
Everyone: Textured Knit Dishcloth
Tools & Materials Needed: 1 skein Medium/Worsted weight yarn, size 8 or 9 knitting needles

 

Week 12, 11/13/24, Knitting
Everyone: Basic Hat Made on Circular Needles, with or without Fair Isle Knit Pattern

Tools & Materials Needed: 2 colors of medium weight yarn, size 7 or 8 , 16” circular needle, size 7 or 8 double pointed needles.

 

Week 13, 11/20/24: Knitting
Everyone: Continue hat

 

Week 14, 11/27/24: Macrame Project #405, Macrame Half-Hitch Leaf Necklace

Materials Needed for Necklace with 3 Leaves:
18 yds. of .5mm. to 1mm. cord: waxed polyester (best), Superlon 400

NOTE 1: Cotton or silk cord won’t work. It must be synthetic so it will melt.
NOTE 2: You can use all one color, or change colors for each leaf.
4 Beads with holes big enough to fit two strands of cord
Clasp set OR lobster clasp & 1-2” of chain w/links large enough to fit lobster clasp
2 Foldover Crimps
2 small, heavy jump rings (Susan’s # 14)

Week 15, 12/4/24, More Basic Hand Sewing: single thread, double thread, making a knot, ending off, Stitches: basting stitch, gathering, running stitch, back stitch, hem stitch, how to hem a skirt, button sewing, sewing a pillow, zipper

Week 16, 12/11/24,  In-person outdoor class and holiday party (weather permitting), including potluck and White Elephant gift exchange
